This week’s news!

21st June 2019

Apologies for the lack of communication through this network over the past few weeks, this news blog will be a looooong one!

Volunteers week!

A few weeks ago it was Volunteers week so we’d like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all our volunteers who give up their time to help Cannock & District Foodbank do the amazing work that they do!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

In the entire Trussell Trust National Network of Foodbanks, there are a staggering 1.6 million volunteers!

We appreciate all of our volunteers here at Cannock and District Foodbank, all 138 of them, so it was important to us to let all of our volunteers know that we would not be able to do what we do without them!!

Silent Auction!!

We have been gifted this fabulous prize and decided to auction it off to raise much needed funds for the Foodbank.

For your chance to win a 4 ball golf experience at Handsworth Wood Golf Club.

We will contact the highest bidder this time next week. The winning bid must be made via our Justgiving page.

If you are interested in this golf experience please message us on our Facebook or Twitter.

Good luck… bid away!

New volunteering opportunity!

We are looking for somebody with specific knowledge in Safeguarding to join our volunteer army at Cannock and District Foodbank, to assist the team with compliance and training.

If you would be interested in supporting us with this role, please message us on Twitter, Facebook, or click this link to download our Volunteer Application Form and send it back to us via email. Contact details are also on that link.

We want to say thank you!

Thank you so much to the congregation of Penkridge Methodist Church for their kind monetary donations of £370 when our Foodbank Manager, Adam visited recently – to give a talk to raise awareness of the work that we do.

We want to say thank you!

A few days ago we had an unexpected visit from Tim! Tim is a Weapon Systems Engineer in the Army, stationed at Merville Barracks in Colchester (but comes back home to Cannock most weekends.)

He returned home in the early hours of Monday morning last week from Normandy having been out there for the 75th D-Day Anniversary celebrations.

There was a an excess of food left over from their catering tent and Tim decided to pile as much of it into his car as he could and bring it all the way back from Normandy to us at Cannock Foodbank! We will put this food to such good use locally! Thank you SO much Tim for thinking of us!

We want to say thank you!

Thank you SO much to Cannock Women’s Institute for giving our Foodbank Manager, Adam such a warm welcome on Thursday last week and for all your generous donations. We collected just over £130 and a car full of food!

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to raise awareness of the work that we do.

Meet the team!

MEET THE TEAM: Nicola

Nikki volunteers at the Foodbank one morning a week, helping us specifically with fundraising.

She was an Multiple Sclerosis nurse at the Royal Stoke MS Centre for 21 years and absolutely loved it but was ready for a change.

She was recently invited to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen in recognition of her work for the MS Society and the MS Trust Charity! Congratulations Nikki!

We’re lucky to have her helping us here at Foodbank too!

A heartfelt thank you

THANK YOU SO MUCH… for your continued kind food donations. We wanted to share this lovely message with you, from a recent client who was grateful for the food parcel received:

“Thank you for our food. I’ve been able to cook a meal for my little girl this evening. It’s the first time I’ve ever had to use a food bank. So thank you.”

We could not support people like this without your generous donations, so thank you, thank you, thank you!

This weeks shortages!

This week we would really love long life milk, tinned fish, crisps, tinned potatoes, fruit cordial/squash.

Thank you so much for your continued generosity. Donations can be taken to drop off points in Asda, Co-Op, Morrison’s, Tesco & Sainsbury’s. Please click this link to find the nearest drop-off point near you!
