This week’s news!

12th April 2019

What’s happened this week?

The last two weeks have been so busy here at Cannock and District Foodbank. We have had a ma-hoosive sort out of our warehouse and have started moving food into our new warehouse!

This was essential to ensure minimal wastage, more efficiency for our labelling and sorting, and makes everything just… easier!! We are very grateful to everyone for helping us get to this point BUT we are not out of the woods yet!

We would be extremely grateful for any donations on our JustGiving page as we are still in need of further improvements to the new container to hold our food.

If you would like to donate please click here to find our JustGiving page.

What else happened this week?

As previously stated these past two weeks have been very busy for us here at Cannock and District Foodbank, but we could never be too busy to catch up with our referral agencies who contribute and help us out immensely.

A few days ago we held a great meeting with our Foodbank referral agencies. We had great attendance from CAB, DWP, Social services, Cannock Council Tenancy Services, Chase Advice Centre, Bromford, South Staffs Housing and Chase Emotional Wellbeing….. and more!

It was great to catch up with each other and continue to build our relationship as these agencies (and all of our referral agencies) play a vital role towards our Foodbank system.

Weekly shortages:

This week we are short on custard, tinned puddings, toiletries (such as deodorant, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner) and household essentials (such as washing up liquid, washing powder and toilet rolls). We are inundated with baby related products, beans, spaghetti, pasta and tea bags (thank you so much!).

So if you are looking to donate with us this week please drop one of these in with your donation! We are forever grateful for all of the public’s donations we receive as we would not get by without them (and you)!

Easter!!!

We are very very close to Easter now and we have started putting Easter Eggs into our food parcels to be given out to families with children. We are sure this will put a smile on lots of children’s faces! Thank you to everyone who has donated Easter Eggs already, we are accepting Easter Egg donations for this next week only so if you have one waiting to come to us please drop it off now!

Our food donation points can be found here.

We want to give a BIG BIGGG shoutout to Gorsemoor Primary School who donated boxes and boxes of Easter eggs to us last week.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude towards each and every child and parent from the school who have donated!

The generosity from the public continues to astound us, and I’m sure that the children in your local area who have/will receive these will be super happy to see that the Easter bunny has dropped by their house this year.

Maybe you could fundraise for us?

A member of the public is soon completing a sponsored walk up Snowdon and is hoping on raising £500 towards our warehouse project! WOW!

If you do not have the money to donate to us but wish to do so, why not do a sponsored walk/swim/jog, etc, yourself and raise money for our Foodbank!

Last but definitely not least!

Did you know that pennies really DO make pounds?

An elderly member of our local community has been collecting coins for us to donate towards our new warehouse, resulting in a very generous £20 contribution!

Thank you to this member of the public, and to anyone who has also donated towards this project.
